The Beni Ouarain tribes of Morocco's Middle Atlas region are prolific carpet makers due to the cold in these mountains. They are normally heavy long pile carpets to insulate and keep them warm. They are also used to sleep on and the long pile wool keeps in their warmth.
Our carpets are carefully selected for quality of wool, design and character. They are chosen as excellent examples of these vintage carpets. If any ancient rugs have repairs we will always tell you. These vintage pieces ooze character and they are a wonderful addition to any living space. These Benis have a very nice medium pile due to wear and the ancient ones can be very low pile and almost velvet like. As you fall in love with these carpets they become addictive and your palette starts to change.
The popularity of these rugs is also that they tend to be a natural cream wool with patterns in black, dark brown or less often dark grey. They are recognised by their classic hatch design and double knot weave.
